Juveniles & Minors

Juveniles and Minors
An Appearance is Required
State law requires an appearance before the judge by the juvenile and a parent or guardian. Do not mail the fine payment.

Definition
Juveniles are defined as persons under the age of 18.

Court Appearance
All juveniles are required to appear in open court accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Failure of the parent or legal guardian to appear with the juvenile will be treated as Contempt of Court, and the parent may be jailed or fined for willful failure to appear.  If the juvenile or minor fails to appear at his or her scheduled hearing, the civil traffic charges will be defaulted and the juvenile’s driving license or privilege will be suspended.
If a juvenile appears without a parent, the court date will be reset. If the parent refuses or fails to appear, the parent can be found in contempt of court and subjected to jail or fines.
