A permit is required for any addition to the existing structure of a house regardless of size.

Submittal requirements
  • Permit/Plan Review Application
  • (2) Copies of a Site Plan showing the location of the addition in relation to existing.
  • Provide plans which show the scope of work, how the addition is tied into the existing structure, components of the existing layout that are impacted by the addition (such as a window removed or enclosed). Plans must include all electrical, plumbing and mechanical information in addition to structural details for the foundation, walls and roof.
All components listed above must be submitted with the Building Permit Application. Application packages must be completed and submitted to Building Safety at 10000 N. El Mirage Rd, El Mirage, Arizona 85335. Fees are based on the valuation of the project and required inspections and are due at time of permit issuance.


  • Foundation- Footings, stem
  • Pre-slab- Compacted surface, wrapped water and drain pipes, drain and waste lines
  • Frame- Wall construction, roof construction, in some cases floor framing
  • MPE- Mechanical, Plumbing and electrical installations
  • Energy- Insulation installation
  • Drywall
  • Final

An inspection will be required upon completion of each phase of the work. The inspection request line number is 623-876-2979. This is an automated line that is available 24 hours a day. Our office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Any inspection called in before 4:00 p.m. will be made the next business day.
